On Saturday 17th October, we’re a-honk with happiness to be welcoming back hi-energy alt-rock explosives experts DAMP MATCHES to The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds! Hailing from the fine city of Norwich, self-described as “Tom Cruise’s favourite female-fronted boy band,” Damp Matches’ ability to veer seamlessly between Jeff Buckley-inflected haunting viscerality and Pixies-esque abrasion has seen them supporting Reef, A, Lambrini Girls, Gaffa Tape Sandy and Bodega, selling out hometown headline shows and garnering acclaim for last year’s thoroughly excellent debut LP ‘It Won’t Take Long’.

Supporting will be already-legendary alt/emo wonders DOLL FACE, majestic epic prog-opera scientists THE INTERESTING TIMES GANG, future punk heroes ROT RATS and indie rabble rousers WINGMAN SOJI.

£5 advance

All Washing Machine tickets are fixed at £5 to ensure that they remain affordable to all.  Profits are split between the artists and the promoter takes nothing.   If you are able to pay more on the night, cash or card donations are most welcome and will go directly to the artists.  Thank you for supporting grassroots live music!

We take audience safety very seriously at Hunter Club Arts Centre, and strongly believe that gigs can and should be safe spaces, free from harassment, intimidation, prejudice, bullying and violence. We expect that all artists, venue staff and attendees will respect our values, and we have a zero tolerance policy towards those who do not. Anyone who endangers the enjoyment and safety of others at a Washing Machine night will be ejected and barred. It is unfortunate that in the 21st Century we still have to say this stuff, but we hope that by doing so we can help to create an atmosphere where everyone feels safe and able to enjoy themselves.
